His estimate is $238...in by 9AM, out by 5PM. He's a very good mechanic, too. This is the first time a friend's recommendation for a mechanic actually worked-out.

The kit cost me @ $200 eight years ago, but for a myriad of reasons I didn't get it on back then. But now for $250 there's not a fucking chance I'd change it myself again, even with access to a lift. Some problems are just worth throwing money at.

that sounds like a good price, especially when a cpa charges $350-450 to prepare your taxes, and an ER doctor charges $350 for a 10 min examination.

    Stop it.

We all know that you've never going to get any of those POS's off the blocks in your frontyard.

You're white trash royalty, embrace your loserdom.

I think he made a mature decision. there are many things you can spend your time on. some are worth the effort and some are not. those that are not are better off letting someone else do. i learned that lesson 4 years after i first got a house: i started mowing the lawn, edging it, fertilizing and bug treating, trimming the hedges, etc. and doing maintenance around the house. I even got a mowing tractor and a ditch witch to run an in the ground sprinkler, etc. Eventually I found that the fun of these tasks wore off and they took up all my weekend couch time that i really needed to unwind from the stresses of working. then i found someone who would mow, fertilize, and generally take care of my lawn for $600/summer (he gave each house in the development a discount for maintaining all our lawns at once). I could not hire him fast enough because i realized my personal time was worth at least that much to me..

a.) way too much text in your post.

b.) He'll have to cut away the vines that have grown all over the POS's that are sitting on blocks in his frontyard.

Fuck no, man, but from the general consensus across multiple Toyo sites, these clutches are considered the cat's ass. Had they sent me the correct parts for my 2wd (obviously crawlers are 4x4), I wouldn't need a new clutch now, 7-8 years later.

Some of that crawling is sick though, Mack, but goddamn that's one expensive hobby and you're always chasing one problem or another.

Dave, pick a joke, use it, and move on. And before running it into the ground, try to make sure it's the least bit funny.

    I hear that!

I did the fucker myself last time, but for a lousy $250, it's not worth busting even one knuckle.

I do most of my own work and I don't think I'd get my hands dirty for $238 on a clutch job. Fuck that, I can make that with a few moonlighting gigs and not get bloody knuckles. :toptip:

This is the truly correct answer.
