I need advice on buying a TV

    Long story short, Im giving someone my DLP tv. Im going to have to have a flat panel to hang on the wall. Video games will be played frequently on this tv. I know a few years back there was a type of tv that a xbox would burn an image into over time. Question is which type of tv do I need so it wont get an image burnt in it? Thanks in advance.:hat:

    Plasma is susceptible to burn in.

    LED or LCD.

    hey limo. I've read that as long as you go with a decent brand, LG or vizio etc, they shouldn't have that problem. I think a cheap off brand from wal-mart is not the way to go. Good luck. wish I had a new big one for the game

    I bought a Samsung series 5 about 3 years ago...play video games frequently and t.v still looks great....I'm gonna buy another in a few months and will provably go with Samsung again...apart from never having any issues, I still like the design....

    Damn they sure think alot of those flat tv's, you just cant beat dlp. Best bang for the buck.

    Take your time! Do not plan on coming home the first shopping trip with your tv. You'll end up rushing the decision.



    I never buy a tv until I google the model number + reviews. Customer reviews, people that have the same set and have used it for a period of time are the best.




    Also google the model number + "trouble" to find common complaints. Lastly, don't think twice about returning it if you bring it home and it doesn't look right. Many people settle for their purchase instead of going thru the hassle of returning it in order to try another. Good luck!

    I am partial to Sony even though their customer service sucks ass. If you go LCD or LED you don't need to get a tv with a refresh rate of 240Hz. You can go with 120Hz and you will be fine. Don't buy into the 3D bullshit either(unless you really want to watch 3D movies) because that adds to the cost for something you are probably not going to use that much. My buddy's 80something inch Mitsubish DLP just crapped out on him and its only a couple of years old. He had a Mitsu tech come out and he couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. It was so nice watching movies on that.

    ive had a samsung plasma for almost 5 years and no burn ins........watch football all the time on it....and also play a lot of ps3 on it

    Panasonic VT series plasma if you're serious about wanting the best quality picture. GT series is great too for a little cheaper. Do your research, plasma picture quality trumps LCD/LED any day of the week. And you won't get "burn in" like some people who listen to urban legends say unless you try really, really hard to get it.
