Sirius is going to see a huge spike in subs from signing Art Bell. He will eventually have more current listeners than Howard. He was on so many AM stations at night that you literally could scan the dial and almost every station you picked up at night was carrying his show. You don't retain listeners doing two shows a week sandwiched in with weeks of vacation.

How can this be possible? Didn't Howard bring in every single listener to Sirius, including the XM listeners who didn't even know it?

Howard will take credit for the additional listeners.

    This is nonsense.

Sirius went from 500,000 subscribers to millions after Howard announced he was coming. I know it's fun to hate Howard on here, but this kind of stuff discredits all the factual stuff on here.

Well it depends, do the aliens have super advanced technology that allows them to get Sirius for free?

He had an affect on subscriptions, but it is way overstated. Sirius also made a lot deals with car manufacturers around the same time and subscriptions skyrocketed in part because these car companies were starting to deliver cars with Sirius preloaded with free trial subscriptions.

Howard definitely had an impact (a significant one), but Sirius did a lot of things to spike subscriptions and it wasn't just hiring Howard.

I don't think anyone is doubting what Howard did for sxm in 2006, but by late 2007-2008 he showed he no longer gave a shit which is when people were dropping out.

The original poster did say Bell would have more listeners than Howard TODAY. My guess is another summer of two day work weeks is probably eating away at his already dwindling fan base who only buy Sirius for him.

bringing a million listeners to the 1am spot is not going to be considered a prime deal: overnight just isn't the big commercial listening time so the ad revenue just wont be there, plus i'm not convinced anyone will sign up just because Bell is there. i figure its more likely he will get more of the existing subscribers tuning in (or time-shifting his broadcasts).

    Ok.. Lets deal with facts:
When Howard signed he brought with him 1-2 million subscribers.
Who cares. He have lost 95% of them.

Remember that Sirius never grew faster then XM. Somehow XM had more subscribers then Sirius. And they didn't spend 50% of their programming budget on a wigged jew pelican .
