.....for my tractor but it's $7500! WTF?!?! Not sure I can justify it for the few small jobs I have. .
I can make do without it but it would make my life easier. I have a shovel and aren't afraid to use it. If i rented everything I wouldn't have as mich cool shit. I have looked into a mini excavator or a bobcat with a backhoe but I like maintaining minimal engines and, while I have a nice size shop (24x40), I'm trying to save floor space for my 4 post lift.
Those are less than $1k with the auger which isn't too bad but my issue is that there is no down pressure so if the soil is full of clay/rocks then it is more trouble than it's worth. I gotta do about 50 post holes when the weather breaks for another acre of horse pasture. I'll probably just do 10-ish a day with the old clamshells. Do you even lift?
When I'm sitting on the tractor, there's plenty of weight to keep the auger going in the right direction.
Anything John Deere is pricey. One of my growers was digging up hardpan with a Liberty and liked the implement.
