On a whim, I went to see Jackie at Uncle Vinnie's comedy club in Point Pleasant, NJ last night. Last time Isaw Jackie was 1989-90. Club was a small place, and there were maybe 60-70 people there. Jackie still puts on a good show. It was his usual, rapid fire delivery. He does reuse old jokes, but the wife and I had a good time, and I did laugh pretty hard. (Cue the Hi Jackie replies). When it came time to stump the Jokeman, nobody volunteered, so I stepped up, and he guessed my first one. (What do engineers use for contraceptives?--Their personality). When he asked for more volunteers, nobody raised their hand, and he gave me another shot. So I asked him "When in a person's life do they realize they will be an engineer? He was stumped--the answer was "when they realize they don't have the charisma to be an undertaker". Yeah, lame jokes, but I stuck to the engineer jokes since Jackie has a degree in mechanical engineering, and I have an engineering degree. Jackie gave me a T-shirt and his F-Jackie CD, which we listened to on the way home. It was a good night.
