Holy shit that looks like fun.
Car tester at Land Rover > Car tester at VW....but only by a little.

I've said that before, but after doing struts and brakes on my Jetta, I'm not too sure anymore...
Golf R, 3200 pound curb weight, about 300hp. Its over Johnny.
I miss my '04 R32.
Are these even available in the US Johnny? I've heard of them, but can't find any info on price or availability locally. My local dealer wants to put me in a GTI Autobahn which I'm sure isn't close on performance for $34 grand- for that kind of cash I'd buy a BMW!!
The Golf R is supposed to be in the US for 2015....they last sold it in the US in 2013.
Thanks! That might be worth waiting for, the GTIs that I've seen are all 4 doors, and if I'm going to get a pocket rocket car, it has to be a 2 door.
don't forget AWD
love my 4 doors...
Have a 4 door TDI Jetta now, love the MPGs, but I guess I'm old school- I'd prefer a 2 door R32 or GTI.
To me one of the great things about a GTI is it can be sporty and fun and also be practical. The four doors just make it way easier to get shit out of the back seat (my golf bag fits perfectly) and if you ever have to haul people around it's better for that as well. For some reason I also like the look of the 4 door.
When I got my '04 the amount of douches crying for VW to offer a 4 door and/or automatic tranny was nuts. That's fine but maybe then an R model isn't for you.
In '04 the only option was leather or cloth.
Ah yes, the good ol' days at VW. I bought my TDI new in 02, and had to be there waiting on the truck to deliver it, as it was one of 2 that they'd seen in 3 months. This one was a 5 speed, cloth interior without sunroof (who needs a sunroof when it rains 8 months of the year anyways?). The other one on the truck was a fully loaded automatic, which someone else was there waiting for.
'04 also had the best exhaust...the next model I think they made DSG only and that didn't go over well.
Not this shit again. Volkswagen
I know, I know... you Jews don't like VWs 'cause they're made by Germans, but WW2 was almost 75 years ago.
There were four colors available and the dealer I went to had a red and a silver. I test drove (aggresively) the red and when they asked if I was ready to make a deal I said "sure" and took the virgin silver.
