and I came to the conclusion that Donna Reed was quite the piece of ass back then
I agree. Watched some of it with my son. His assessment was, "this sucks."
Watched it too.. The wife said" wow they had pretty good sense of humor back then... I told her to shut the fuck up and keep blowing me
Yeah, I gotta admit she was hawt hidin' in the bushes.....
and along with Shelley Fabares probably the best mother/daughter combo in the history of TV
For some reason I have never seen this movie. Is it worth watching as a holiday movie? I would always see the heinous "Every time a bell rings a little angel gets its wings" part with the helium voiced child and think, "I am not going to watch this crap!"
I love this movie so much. Some folks thought it was too dark when it came out, but it's so good. It has my favorite movie kiss too. HOT HOT HOT!
I usually watch Ben Hur and Bad Santa during the Christmas season.
I always liked it, too. Especially after he "wakes up". I can't watch it with the commercials though.
Christmas Vacation and Karloff's Grinch for me
Hey ma, the shitter's full!
I like Charlie Brown's Christmas, too. We always used to get crappy little Charlie Brown trees when I was a kid. Now we have this fake white tree that looks like one of the trees that Charlie hates in the show.
I watched it also..And still after all these years tear up at the end
I cry when I see Ben Hur. He reminds me of me, a hateful angry bitter rat man.
i love the Jazz score. CBC is a good one, too
You should watch it if only to realize all the pop culture references to it. It's really a good movie, though definitely maudlin. Jimmy Stewart is just so Goddamned likeable
Yup, Bobtraw, you have to see it!!!!
You are right about that! There are SO many references to it on Mystery Science Theater; every time they show a night sky with stars twinkling they make a George Bailey reference.
I think it's a rule that all comedies must parody it at some point. Even Beavis and Butthead did it......
IAWL was Jimmy's first movie after coming back from fighting in WWII. He was a heck of a guy. Can you imagine a movie star at the top of his game going off to serve now? I sure can't...
