It depressed the shit out of me. Most people over there were assholes.

I'm looking really hard for a normal job because I obviously need to make money, but I'm really afraid my life will take a turn into the bland, lame and boring.

Make your own action. What skills do you have, what are you passionate about doing? Take a risk, and see what happens. Good luck.

I'm really good at giving presentations and getting everything out of Powerpoint. I'm good at writing & I'm bi-lingual. I'm very computer savvy. I'm comfortable and confident when dealing with people. I can represent myself properly. When I believe in something, I can sell the shit out of it. I feel I have a lot going for me and that I can be a valuable asset to many companies.

The one thing I'm truly passionate about is playing guitar, but sadly it's almost impossible to make a living that way.

Hmmm. You are a young guy? Only suggestion. Try hard to find something to do that is interesting to you. Forget money, it will come.

I enjoy what I do. I meet people from all walks of life and being slightly weird is actually an advantage to me, since most of the other people my typical clients meet ARE those boring drones you spoke of. A rumpled say anything semi fuck up like me visiting them is a welcome relief.

I guess I'm trying to say if you are good at your job and your job is hard to do, you don't have to be a drone.

Unfortunately some people can not represent themselves the way in which they want to represent themselves.

    Good advice, thanks.

    Yeah I guess, I'm 25.

Money isn't my main objective in finding a job. I want to find something that I enjoy doing every day and that challenges me. Even minimum wage would be fine by me for now. I drive a shit car I don't care about and I live cheap. Doing nothing is sucking the life out of me.

What job do you do exactly?

You seem smart, well adjusted, and confident. I think you will do just fine.

Thanks, man. I'm sure it'll all turn out fine in the end. But the people I met today just turned me off so much, I wasn't expecting that at all. A lot of them already had that bland, empty stare in their eyes and they just finished college, just like me. Some were even walking around wearing fucking earplugs.

WGAS. People who make a living at it had to at least try first. What about seeing if the musicians union can help? I saw a couple plays last year, they had guitar players in the house orchestra playing electric guitar. I was jealous. The difference between them and me is they tried.

You have youth on your side, as well as the other things I mentioned. It is ok to get down, but never get discouraged, the people you met were obviously not passionate about what they do, or else your observations would be much different.

That's a good point. I should really try to start a band again.

I was talking about getting session work through the union, you know, to pay the bills.

Plenty of people are good with Powerpoint
Plenty of people can give presentations
Plenty of people can play the guitar.

The world needs people for all of those positions so why not pick the one you like? Maybe I'm projecting...

Yeah, thanks. You're right. Gonna sleep now, tomorrow's a brand new day!

It was just a letdown and I was already pretty bummed about sending out a ton of applications without success.

    Wahhhhhhh. :artiejj:

It's not like I'm not trying. The market just really sucks right now. I got a return e-mail from a job I applied for and it said they received over 200 applications.
