I cancelled my Sirius subscription last year and it had nothing to do with Howie being wealthy. The show sucks now. I loved the Artie era, and he was rich then too, right?
I don't hate him because he's wealthy, I hate him because he is an unfunny piece of shit who baited and switched his fans to become super wealthy,
Beth would be married to someone else as we speak if Howard was broke. Plus, Howard would have never became the abomination that he is today. He had it dialed in for a guy that looks like that and now nobody can stand him.
Howard's been rich since the early 90s. No one cared about it then. The only difference now is that he's not funny and people can clearly see what a lying hypocrite he's always been.
Is he still famous and funny (like he used to be)? I might like him still because the horse wouldn't have trotted in, he wouldn't have had the money to starfuck and buy a newer uglier face, buy new choppers that are exactly what he goofed on gary & sal about, lie about his new choppers, Alison might still be around, he might still be a human and not the Alzheimers pod person he's become. The money really did contribute to the downfall of the funny and of Howard as a person.
If Howard was the program director for a small market station, he'd still be married to his first wife. Beth would look right through him without his bucks.
Howard's been rich for virtually his entire career. His bank account is not the reason people dislike Howard or the current show.
I stopped listening about 6 months ago. He seems to have turned into everything he used insist he hated. Now, he's all about the celebrities he hangs out with. He stopped being funny. Rich or not, he quit trying.
What would there be to dislike? I wouldn't know him. He wouldn't have a trophy wife. He wouldn't be exploiting people in order to enrich himself. He'd just be a tall, ugly, Jewish guy from NY complaining about everything.
He's been wealthy for a long time and I've only started losing faith in the show in the past year or two, so no. Adam Carolla is wealthy -- and brags about it at times -- and I don't mind. That show is better at this point.
let me add, I don't judge people by how much money they have or don;t have I judge them by their character. Howard while not a horrible person as far as I know is not generous or giving, he is greedy and miserly.
