How much does a podcast like theirs cost? I would be tempted to do it,just because I don`t want to only have Stern as a morning show on Sirius. They seem like they won`t re sign with Sirius, but I get the feeling they are making in the low millions each,so they might just stay when its decision time.

This is the model they should emulate.
    Leo makes some nice coin.

Leo has the technology, and more specifically the apple, niche.

What exactly would Opie and Anthony's niche bee? Won't they need to hire a staff of on air talent like Leo for 18 hours a day of broadcasting? Also Leo is much more intelligent, entrepreneurial than some shock jocks. Lets be honest even Howard was a lazy bastard in his prime. Disc Jockeys like easy paychecks and I doubt O and A can build up a site like this. I

Agreed. They would need a legit nerd on their side. I would love to see them do this, especially with a video element involved. Anthony has a incredible setup in his home but like Yimmy said it would be hard to get guest to travel there. If they have someone that "gets" the technology it could take off. I don't see Opie joining in though, Opie may be annoying sometimes but he evens everything out IMO.

So,its free? Well,do they make money from ads? Must be,they need to make money somehow. They hinted at moving to afternoons today, but I had to shut it off. Did they give in to that show change?

So Opie and Anthony got that big 3 year 30 million dollar contract from infinity back in the day. The one that they got paid in full even though fired from the "incident". So that's a 5 million dollar salary for the both of them as a starting point. They then singed with CBS and it's safe to assume it was for the same or around the same per year dealio. As 3rd mike on Stern Artie was making 700k a year so lets say norton is getting 500k.

I have to assume that when they moved to XM in thier fiirst stint that they were getting a pay cut lets be conservative and call it 2.5mil each for Opie and Anthony. Lets put Jim at the make salary of 500k.

I cannot in all logic think that they signed a two year deal in 2012 for anything less than what they got with infinity and it's save to assume they are in the Mad Dogs neighborhood salary wise which fits with my 2.5 figure.

So all this talk about pod casting this and quitting that or fans speculation that they start a network lit Twit.tv comes down to.

    A. Work hard as too attain some possibility of getting a portion of what you're getting paid but with the added bonus of being "your own boss"
    B. Sign another guaranteed deal to ad to the bank of millions you've already earned since signing that infinity contract over a decade ago.

Logic dictates they resign and this is all just bark and no bite as it has been for the last 10 plus years.

Really if Jim doesn't have the show as it is now then he doesn't get to get those juicy 15-20k 1000 seat casino gigs he does 25 dates a year or so nor the specials he sells to that cable company for an easy 50-100k. I venture to say he would be at a level between Artie Lange is now and Rev Bob Levy with out the show and Sirius XM.

Bubba back when he actually had some steam behind him, when he left Sirius, if they had done that RadioIO deal RIGHT I think he could have done well with a podcast, but of course that fat fuck decided to do it underhanded with his agent and do a quick up-front cash grab and fucked over just enough of his hardcore fanbase that they said fuck it and gave up on him.

If they were to leave and do a podcast like Carolla does, they could do well I'd imagine. If they keep the same kind of show they have now I'd follow them over. I paid I THINK, it's been a few years, but like $6.99? Maybe for Phil Hendrie's "Backstage Pass" thing he did, had all his old audio up, live streaming and video of his nightly show, it was good for a while until he started having a falling out with the radio network that distributed his show and each night his show turned into 45 min of him doing a character, then during the break him cursing them (I think it was TRN) about how they were fucking him over, blah blah blah, then at least once a week he'd say "fuck it" and go to tape and not finish the show..at that point I had downloaded about all of his classic stuff I wanted so I canceled my backstage pass, and now I think he's moved the price up over $10 a month, no way I'd pay that for him now. But if a show like O&A left and did a podcast, even charged just like $5 a month and then suplemented it with advertisers, I think they could do ok. Let's be honest, that IS the future, Sirius is nothing but a distribution platform, you can start a podcast, set up your own distribution and it's the same damned thing, except they'd be their own boss..

BTW, Rodney makes a good point, let me clarify, when I say "They could do well", I mean they could make an honest living at it, and maybe they could with subscriptions and advertisers pull in like $500K each (I'm just throwing that out there, I mean, I could be way off) but they aren't going to make BIGTIME radio money doing it, but at this point if they saved their money and invested correctly over the years, who's to say they couldn't be happy doing that? If you go to do a show YOUR WAY, be your own boss, control all aspects of what you did and make $500k a year, is that all that bad?

That said, I bet you anything they aren't making $2.5 million a year at Sirius now..if Ferrall was making something like $250k a year his last few years at Sirius on Howard's channel, I bet that last contract they signed wasn't much more than $1 million a year..I hope I'm wrong though, I mean, fuck em, I don't make anywhere near that kind of money but knowing what Howard pulls in at Sirius and knowing how LITTLE work he actually puts in, it's a travesty that everyone else there makes so little in comparision..

No way is Sam doing 75k...will all of his hustling that balding halfbreed probably does 45-50. They were saying Sal barely pulls in 30 at one point. Erock probably hits 75 for length of service, Travis in the same range.

I know neither Sam or Erock live in the city. What is the cost of living like just in NY and NJ? Would $75,000 even cut it?

The only way you could live in the city pulling $75k is if you had 10 roomates in a shitty apartment.
Neither Opie nor Anthony can afford to comfortably live in NYC. They both live on long island.

Opie and Jimmy both live in Manhattan and Anthony has an apartment there that he crashes in occasionally.

She turned 18. Now instead of thinking he's creepy we can envy him.
