Put $5K down on a $100K house and rent it out for the 10-20 years. You pay down the mortgage without touching anymore money :dontknow:

Open a Scotrade account and buy SPY and leave it there. It tracks the S&P 500 and doesnt have fees like a mutual fund.

What's your risk profile. If you have a low risk profile, try a Vanguard fund or other mutual fund that is indexed, low fee, and generally invested in quality stocks. You won't make a huge gain on the principal, but you won't lose it and you will get dividends/distributions.

If you have a high risk profile, then individual stocks are the way to go. Look for a beaten down stock that had a good track record of quality products (my favorite was DMND. Accounting scandal brought it from $90 down to $12, where I bought it. It went back up to about $32, when the underlying company was sold to another company.)

Investing it would be one way to go.

Or, if you're feeling generous, that amount should just about cover GP2's next hot sauce purchase. :dontknow:

This. No managed fund will beat it over that amount of time, especially when fees are factored in.
