I only listened to half of the video posted by the OP to tell you I disagree with him 100%.

What he's failing to recognize is not so much that Adam Carolla is inviolation of a patent but that THE PATENT NEVER SHOULD'VE BEEN AWARDED IN THE FIRST PLACE.

And that's what people like Adam Carolla and thousands and thousands of other businesses who are being shaked down by these (yes, they are) patent trolls, who were awarded a patent on something that's utterly ridiculous.

Let's say I develop some method by which I post a minimovie of my family and immediately after it's over, the next video plays.

THAT'S WORTHY OF A PATENT? wtf?!

So that means that any personal youtube page that does the same type of "autoplay" after one video is finished is in violation of this patent.

This is the real problem with patent trolls. It's not that they're beating up on small companies. It's that they never should've been granted the patent in the first place. These patents are not innovative or unique in anyway. They are being granted a patent for a process which would have occurred to anyone who just gave the idea some thought.

so, okay, some would say "well, that's the nature of patents. he got there first."

What about these locators on companies' websites? You know, Target. "Find a retailer?" You type in your zip code and it returns a result with a map. You've seen them, right?

Well, the way this works is one of the Target locations has their zip code and street, reduced to longitude and latitude and that allows the map to peg the location on the map where it belongs.

Would you believe someone was granted a patent for converting longitude and latitude from a zip code?

THAT'S FUCKING MATH. And now this company, Geotag, is fleecing thousands of businesses across the country, suing them for patent infringement.

google geotag and come back to this thread with open eyes.
