Even though it is the nicest day of the year, chili still sounds good. I live in Texas and this does not resemble Texas chili in any way. In fact, I'd be fined and possibly subject to capital punishment for calling it chili if the Texas authorities find me. I do like Texas Red though. This is just different.

    Ground Beef
    Crushed Tomatoes (I use canned)
    Dark Red Kidney Beans
Light Red Kidney Beans or Pinto Beans
    Diced Onions
    Diced Red Bell Pepper
    Diced Green Bell Pepper
    Diced Jalapenos
    Cumin
    Garlic Salt
    Chili Powder
    Salt
    Pepper
    Tomato Juice

Fry the burger with the onions, salt and pepper
Add all the other stuff. Spices to taste.
The longer you let it cook, the better, at least an hour. It tastes better the second day.

Serve with Fresh onions, grated cheddar, slices of jalapeno and Taco chips.

That "real Texas chili" looks boring as shit to me.

Add a can of chipolte peppers in adobo sauce...looks like a good, easy recipe.

It's OK, I'm a NYer. We don't have any chili rules here.

ya, i don't get the texas chili. i actually use black beans & kidney beans. i also crust a cheap cut of steak & pork on the grill, slice it up & throw it all in the crock all day. the meat comes out great after slow cooking it.
mix some cumin powder in with the sour cream

I've used a chuck roast before and prefer it with just hamburger. Probably because it's what I'm used to. A lot of people get coarse ground beef and mix it with the stew beef or steak. Black beans sounds good. I don't know why I haven't tried that before.

I don't like beans in my chili, but other than that, I don't see what would be offensive about it. I made chili last weekend; I use 2-Alarm Chili seasoning, hamburger and/or venison, and add other stuff to it depending on what's around the kitchen. Actually, I do almost always add quite a bit of lime juice, my personal little fetish. The ingredients you listed aren't at all unTexanish to me.
