So I was watching an episode of Restaurant Impossible, and they redid the dining hall of a camp in upstate New York called The Double H camp. It's a year round camp for terminilly I'll, disabled and severely medically compromised kids and their families. Each summer about 250 kids participate. It's one of the camps founded by Paul Newman in 1988.

It made me think about the Imus Ranch which is up for sale, and when it was announced, they touted how since 1998 they have hosted about 2000 kids who have cancer or lost a sibling to SIDS. The ranch operates all year, but only hosts 10 kids at a time for 8 weeks per summer.

Newman's organization worldwide has hosted over 500,000 kids, and they operate all year.

Imus is selling the ranch because he can't stay there anymore due to the altitude, which I found odd since he really doesn't need to be there.

I always knew Newman was a class act, I wasn't fully aware of the extent of his legany in this regard. It's pretty amazing what some tomato sauce and popcorn can do

I'm sure this thread will devolve into Beth and NSAL bashing, but oh well. What other celebrities have really stepped up and made a real differenee? In life and death?

Yeah, his revamps have a pretty good success rate, that business is brutal for the best places. They had $50,000 to spend, it was one of those weepy episodes
