I give you this gem.......... Chicago woman cut 9-month-old girl’s throat with a power saw to stop her crying, then attempted suicide: cops BY Jason Silverstein NEW YORK DAILY NEWS Monday, March 9, 2015, 11:24 PM WGN A woman cut a baby's throat with a power saw when she wouldn't stop crying in this Little Village apartment, police said. A Chicago woman cut an 9-month-old girl’s throat with a power saw to stop the baby’s crying, then tried to kill herself Monday morning, police said. The baby, who relatives said is named Rosie, was found dead in an apartment in the Little Village neighborhood around 9:40 a.m., WGN reported. The 52-year-old woman, who is a relative, had tried to silence the infant’s crying by shoving something, possibly a cloth, down her throat, a source told the Chicago Tribune. When that didn’t work, the woman cut the baby’s throat with a circular saw, police said. The woman then tried to kill herself, but was found by another relative and rushed to a hospital, where she’s now stable and in police custody. The woman’s name has not been released. WGN said she is the baby’s grandmother, but police did not confirm that as of Monday night. She has not been charged and the killing is still being investigated, police told the Daily News. One neighbor was baffled by the brutal killing. The woman reportedly tried to silence the girl by shoving something down her throat before using a saw on her, then tried to kill herself. “She was a nice person, she came to my house,” Brenda Saucedo told the Chicago Tribune about the alleged attacker. Another neighbor, who did not give her name, told the paper she saw the baby at a health clinic briefly before her death. “I held her hand and I was hugging her,” the neighbor told the Chicago Tribune. “She had a little flu. She wanted to be hugged, she was a happy baby. She was very pretty.” The apartment is home to a mother, father, two daughters and possibly more relatives, neighbors said. The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services never had previous contact with the family, a spokesperson said. There were no other children in the apartment when the sickening crime occurred.
