The drivers are bad enough, but it looks like the mechanics are even worse!

If Putin has his way, we'll all be losing our tires under Comrade Trump!

Is there not a single torque wrench anywhere in that country? " What a country."

ill be in Ukraine in a couple weeks. they are nearly as bad as the russians with their cars. Most drivers never got formal driver training before getting a license, but just pay the auto license office a bribe to walk out with one. most people have no form of auto insurance so everything is handled on the side of the road in cash for a negotiated price of repair work. Police with assist to make sure this is fair. People tend to drive "creatively" let say, making 2 lane roads 3 and 4 lane roads 6 wide.

and worst of all nobody seems to take care of their cars. i would not be shocked if lugnuts are NEVER tightened. most cars i have been i have been in have filthy windshields in and out and wiper blades that are dry and hard and do more to smear the water and road grime then to wipe it. and the people that do have some success and buy nice new cars, those cars last months before they are looking pooly and sad just because they are not taken care of, washed etc.

best bet is to buy a older SUV to provide adequate protection in a crash and also to cope with the bumps and pot holes that can swallow a house

In contrast, here in Europe where I live, you get called in for an inspection every few years. They wear lab coats and inspect EVERYTHING! It goes on and on and there isn't anything they overlook, you'll even be written up for not having a full tank of washer fluid. I spend two or three days washing and inspecting everything on our vehicles before the appointments. Far cry from California, you only had to worry about your car passing the SMOG test.
