WTF Insomnia

    I have it so bad, no matter where I am or what goes on in my life. Always had it, even as a little kid.

    It's 4 AM right now here.

    I'm super tired but also super awake. I can't force myself to shut off.

    It sucks.

    Anyone else here having that problem?

    I fall asleep then wake up at various times.

    just after midnight. 2:30, 3:30.

    I wish i could just sleep straight thru and wake up at 9am. But that never ever happens.

    Damn. I have either that exact experience in or I just don't fall asleep at all until 5 or 6 or so.

    I have it bad. I don't have a meds addiction evidenced by all the expired painkillers I throw out regularly. But I may have it for zolpidem (generic Ambien) and have half or a full nightly. I tried to wean myself off it but it was tough. I tried rotating between generic benadryl, melatonin and zolpidem. I remember as a kid, my dad used to be up at 2, 3 am reading so maybe it runs in the family. Either that or we just not tired enough.

    At some point, I decided to screw it. What's wrong with taking half a ambien pill every night?

    See a shrink to address whatever the problem is, or smoke some weed. Don't get hooked on ambien.

    I take melatonin. I wake up alert all the time in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep for hours. The melatonin helps

    Nutmeg will help you sleep. I make a drink with it every night and you drift off. Don't use more than 1/4 tsp because it can make you really sick.

    Lots of people have segmented sleep patterns. Although you do need more than 2-3 hours a night, frequent waking cycles have been the norm for most of human history. Here is a link from. BBC article that I thought was interesting.

    I'm pretty sure I got most of my demons sorted out at this point. I've had this problem since I was a kid without a worry in the world.

    You could have restless leg syndrome.... otherwise known as the jimmy legs.

    I had it for a number of years.
