I was coming home from work in the morning and I saw something suspended over the pond next to my house.

I backed up and had to do a double take. I realized it was a bird that had been tangled in fishing line.

I went over to get a closer look and it started flapping it's wings trying to get away. I realized it was an owl.

I called the police but they said that animal control wasn't open until 9:00. At first I figured I'd just have to wait but then I thought, what would the amazing Beff O Horskey do? And I sprung into action. Stupidly I didn't call the press or put on my best dress for the photo op. I didn't even bring a camera. But I did put on my bathing suit, wade out until I was under the owl and set up a step ladder. I climbed up with my kitty carrier and raised it up around the owl until it was inside, shut the door and cut the wires. I brought it home and made some calls until I got the shelter to take it and bring it to a bird recovery center. They will untangle it and if it's healthy return it to the wild where I cut it down.

I found a june bug and threw it in the cage for him to eat but he wouldn't have it.
I wish I could have called Beth to find out how to care for it. She would know what to do.

You probably could have sold the pictures, owl and story to howard for ten thousand bucks, thats much cooler than an ugly, common grackle. Of course there would be the standard non disclosure papers to sign, it is howard.

Great looking owl, had one on my porch one night, cute little guy, he never came back, wish he would. Nice job.

When they get the bird back as good as new again will they call you to come and stage a gratuitous releasing ceremony for the world to see?
