College coaches only cares about winning not training the kids to be in the NFL. QBs who aren't a throwing threat and offensive lines who can't pass protect is hurting NFL quality. If your QB goes down with an injury, it is highly doubtful (unless you play for the Patriots) that your backup QB has any real skill. The Power 5 conferences just aren't producing quality QBs anymore.

From a qb standpoint absolutely. The way to fix that is for the nfl to start a spring ball league.

Um, a college coach's job is not to train players to make it in the NFL. They are paid to win games.

I think it's an overblown controversy. Look at any era of the NFL -- true quality QBs have always been rare and in high demand.

No matter your favorite team, you've had a stretch of shitty quarterbacking

I agree and that's why I think college football players need a union. They are getting screwed over.

    More like free labor. Shameful.

But I am so torn because I love me some autumn Saturday football.

They get a scholarship. If that aint good enough for them, they don't have to play.

they should be allowed to go right to the nfl at 18

if a business wants to hire an adult to do a job then they should be allowed to do so

then a team could spend time and resources developing their employee as they see fit

They're should be another league for them to go to. NBA had the D league. Baseball has the minors

You realize you don't get to choose what major you have when you play football. They only allow certain easy majors when you play D1 ball.

In College football coaches want the ball in the hands of their best athlete( usually the qb)

In the NFL the qb's job is to get the ball to the best athletes.

Then they can pay for their own college and major in what they want. There is no "plight of the college athlete". They know the deal when they sign up. If they don't like the deal, then don't take it.

the second players start getting paid on top of a full ride is the day people will realize with how expensive and important college is for their future employment; hiring and filling up spots in the class so stupid people can play a game is just not worth it.

I think players should be able to try for the NFL whenever they think they are ready. I don't like them having their earning ability limited by their college status. I also have no problem with college players getting a stipend although the scholarship is already a huge benefit. The union is a joke.

As far as preparing players for the NFL, that is not the college coach's job. He gets no bonus for placing players in the NFL. You have to remember that 95% of those players don't go into the NFL so it doesn't make sense to for them to coach to the NFL. I like the game the way it is.

The reason that there is no NFL minor league is because the NFL would have to subsidize it. There wouldn't be enough interest from the fans and sponsors to make it profitable. The NFL has really already tried it with NFL europe and it failed. NFL is about making money period.

I don't believe that to be true. There are schools that encourage their players to "cluster" majors but on every team, there are players majoring in other programs. There are studies on this and even clustering is a small percentage . Many if not most of the players are admitted as exceptions because they don't meet the school's academic standards so you aren't going to see a lot of pre-med student athletes. I'm guessing those players get a lot of strong advice to take basket weaving or whatever cupcake major is available.

Can't pay football players. Title IX. If they pay football players, then they also have to pay women's lacrosse players the same amount.

But stupid rules like no endorsement money or transfer restrictions can hold them back.
