Is Howard's whining about AGT for real, or is he just using us to negotiate?

One thing that Howard and Don Buchwald are great at - is using Howard's forum (radio) as a tool for negotiation.

All his whining about AGT has become tiresome. I don't watch the show anyway - America has run out of talent.

So, is HS really using us to help get more $, more days off, filming in the Hamptons? Or is his bitching for real?

His father told him not to do it (so HS says). And Stern usually does what the wise-Ben Stern says.

I believe that we'll find out - if HS accepts the AGT offer, and it turns out to have additional terms that favor Stern's situation - like filming in the Hampton's or near his new Florida mansion - we'll know that he won again, and once again used his fans.

I just can't believe that he'll walk away from $$$, even though he doesn't need it. His own self image is too low to walk away.:secret:

I heard on a H100 News Update Howard saying what is factoring into whether he returns to AGT is that he has some "other projects" in the works. You know he has no other projects in the works.

Well one thing is for sure. No one from NBC or AGT (except that Jason raff sycophant) even hears anything Howard says on the radio. They listen to the ratings first and foremost.

It's like last time. He probably already signed for two seasons, after this season he'll question if he's going back even though it's already a done deal.

I don't think so. I think they're stuck with Stern unless he decides to walk away. And the only way he's going to do that is if he gets a better offer. :backlol:

Why do you think that, they could get the same ratings paying Carrot Top, $100,000

It's the same game he plays every time a contract is up. How many times did he say he was going to retire?

Because Howard will sue or create some other legal problems they don't want to be saddled with. That's why on the Nov 12 show, Howard said NBC is "bending over backwards and forwards" for him. I feel they want it to be his decision, not theirs.

The NBC prime-time lineup is proof positive there is a chance Stern comes back to AGT.
They produce one steaming pile of shit after another.

Also, you have to remember it's just summer filler so it's not that big of a deal.

That's a good point but I'd have to think that somewhere there are people running the numbers, especially since NBC is doing poorly. In one of the AGT threads this summer someone uncovered that a 30 second commercial spot on AGT cost around $175-200,000 in the years prior to Howard's arrival. That was based on a rating above 3 and around 12 million viewing. The sponsors certainly aren't paying that much for ratings in the mid 2's and 8-10 million viewing. But even if you use that $200,000 figure that's 75 commercial spots they have to sell just to cover Howard's bloated salary not to mention the other costs associated with him being there, Radio City Music Hall rental, Buchwal's percentage etc. Replacing Howard with cheap talent would seem to put more money in NBC and Simon Cowell's pocket.
