It was 59% last year. The number of Americans who believe the U.S. has the world’s mightiest military has gone down from 59% last year to 49% this year, according to a Gallup poll published Monday. The poll asked 1,021 random people if they thought the United States has the strongest military in the world. The respondents were evenly split, with 49% saying “yes” and 49% saying “no,” a marked decrease from last year’s survey. The poll also showed that 37% said the U.S. didn’t spend enough on defense.
