Seems like they have less selection now for streaming. Some shows that I wanted to see again are gone. WTF is going on?

Way of the dodo ... Your cable provider will be happy to stream anything you want to you soon. I mean you already get the internet from them anyways, so you prob have TV and a cable box. Why pay for a service cable will be happy to provide.

The only rub is some studios have exclusive deals with Netflix, they need to die out first.

They lost the contract with Starz so the Starz Play feature is gone along with the movies.

They're looking to put the squeeze on isp's over torrents starting in June, so the isp's cashing in on streaming media is no doubt coming soon.

Netflix is cheap, cable isn't. Netflix needs to get a sports package before I can ditch cable.

...i think what would be the best is for each netwotk you want like a&e or the history channel, whatever, you pay them a fee for their app for a year and cut the cable providers out completely. if you have comcast or some other big provider theyre the first ones to track what youre downloading. fuckem all, i say each network should sell their own app then they down have to deal with the cable guys either.

Yea, very similar to cell phones, data providers are doing all they can to try and limit this explosive growth over the last 6 years. Carriers have outdated and aging equipment supporting 10 times the infrastructure it was meant to. The costs they incur to support and maintain are staggering. The long rumored idea is your ISP will cap you at say 10gb a month, anything over they would charge like a metered service ( elec company ). It would do two things, raise usage ( and also curb piracy, cause grandma can longer pirate bay Hunger Games) and it will also drive you to use the Video On Demand services from the same provider so you're not using bandwidth.

I think this is the way things will go eventually. HBO GO is the first shot across the bow.

    Not June, but July.
The RIAA will be policing torrent sites with the intent of turning in users to isp's.
The isp's have agreed to restructure their infrastructure to rehabilitate and punish habitual piraters.
