You better watch "Titanic," "Top Gun" and "Braveheart" while you can, because come 2014, Netflix will remove 80 films and a handful of TV shows from their streaming site.
According to Reddit, on New Year's Day, nearly 40 million streaming Netflix subscribers will no longer be able to watch some of the classic films and TV shows that have been so readily available in the past. Instead, they will have to join the seven million DVD subscribers and order their films to come in the mail.

The heads-up came from an anonymous post on Reddit, in which the user listed every film that is to be removed from instant streaming as of Wednesday, January 1. Netflix reportedly often changes what films will be available for streaming based on licensing contracts made with the studios and filmmakers.
The silver lining in all of this is that a few new films and shows will become available next year."Jack Reacher," "The Talented Mr. Ripley," "Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters"and seasons 5-8 of "Dexter" will be available to stream some time in 2014.

However, if you wanted a chance to stream any of the movies below, you better bust out a New Year's Eve movie marathon before the clock strikes midnight.

TV shows that are expiring January 1 include:

    "Dark Shadows"
    "Saturday Night Live: The 2000s"

I'm not sure how Netflix is better off by thinning out that inventory of movies. There are a bunch of good films there.

If they remove Top Gun, where am I going to get my volleyball-based homo-erotic thrills?

Netflix is almost begging subscribers to capture the streams before they get taken down.

They should add a pay per view type service like Amazon for current releases, the streaming has always been lacking content

True story: had a free trial for Netflix a couple of years ago. Never saw Californician, and was watching it from the start. After about a week, it just disappeared. Gone. So was my interest in Netflix. I just continue to get my stuff via other ways.

...theyre not only getting rid of some movies but theyre also going to raise their rates. something like 11.99 for 3 different people to stream at once. netflix wants the people they call "moochers" to pay or charge the account of the subscriber more depending on how many people on an account can stream at once.

Netflix should get rid of the mailing service and throw everything on the stream.

...better than that, cable companies should sell their stream directly to the end user.

Meh, Netflix is constantly dropping and adding stuff. It's more annoying that they quit publishing the expiration dates on their titles, causing InstantWatcher.com to have to drop their expiring soon category.
