They never sell anything. And you're telling me that everyone brings this amazing shit to them?

They had a lottery ticket signed by George Washington

I live in Vegas and visited their shop once. The show has made that place a full fledged tourist attraction. The line goes out the door and to the end of the block. On the opposite side of the street are two other pawn shops that were completely empty.

It may be a bullshit show but the business it brings in is for real.

    But do people buy anything?

Cake Boss has lines out the door and around the block, but everyone buys something.

Would be interesting if they showed what they are selling shit for. Then show a bought vs paid for comparison, but I'm sure that will be bad for business. They rape people imo..

I worked in a pawn shop in college, so unless the laws in Nevada are completely different (which is possible), I'd say most of the transactions on that show are staged, at least for the big ticket items. There is an episode where they straight up trade gold for a car while doing no paper work and show the guy walk out the door with his gold, in real life that would have taken a solid hour having the title done (calling to make sure it had no liens) and then doing the paperwork for the taxes on the car, actually handing the guy cash, then making him buy the gold with the cash (paying tax again). Probably a lot of the sales are real, but they just re-enact the deal for TV and cut out all of the really montonous stuff you have to go through.

They obviously don't tape the day to day transactions of the pawn shop. Who would watch that? They also don't show all the paperwork at the end of a deal, so what?

I'm sure the shop gets better items these days than before the show started.

I've never been, but I've heard that they are selling as many Chumlee t shirts and shit than pawned items, these days. And the 4 of them are rarely there, only during taping days.

Yes, but it actually comes like this. I bought years ago as a Pro Q 20, now sold in the States under Napoleon smokers. Stacked 3 high I can smoke a little over a 100lbs of meat.

That, and they don't show you the ugly side of the business. Now that they're on TV it's different I'm sure, but probably 75% of a pawn shop's business is straight usury, basically working like a payday lender (where someone has an item they can never afford to get out and just keep paying the interest every month and never get the principal knocked down). That Detroit pawn show is 100% scripted and fake though, TMZ busted them awhile back.

Check the bolts on the legs before you start, FYI. I have an old bullet smoker that will hold 50lbs, but one of the bolts on the legs rusted through and it toppled over. That was a HUGE mess. Fortunately, all I had on was chicken. I got some stainless steel bolts and it still delivers.

The 3 fire doors on that thing made me wonder if it was scabbed together. Seems like it would lose heat and smoke. But it's all good.
