Syfy just reran it the other night and it had big ratings - over 800,000 more people saw it the second time around than the first. And Syfy says that it will rerun it two more times, once in July and once in August.

I haven't seen it but from what the media says about it, it has a chance to be a cult classic in the mold of "Plan 9 from Outer Space" and "Eegah!". Too bad Mystery Science Theater 3000 isn't around anymore to give it the treatment it deserves.

You know what? That would have been a great Howard parody bit back in the day. You know - when Howard still did parody bits and the show was still about comedy.

No, it's part of a genre that people are just getting into because of the camp value. 99% of stuff on TV is terrible, so why waste your time on mediocrity? This has sharks and tornados and a girl I used to think was really pretty until I saw her Frankentit. That beats the shit out of Modern Family or The New Normal for me.

The Asylum would really be onto something if they threw a few titties into the mix.

It's not even a joke, Howard took credit for sharknado drawing more viewers for its rerun airing....... Because his viewers all watched it after Howard discussed it on the air.

I caught that and turned it off there because I was hemorrhaging braincells, I was literally getting stupid listening to him. He actually whined they didn't credit him for talking about it, never mind it was all over every social network long before he got around to it . The very reason it even came up on the show is because it had already reached a critical mass on the internet in terms of buzz. What planet is this clown broadcasting from?

I've gone from liking the show in the 90's and early 2000's to liking to hate him and lately just hating myself for listening hoping for some gem where he embarrasses himself and we can all have a good laugh at him here, but honest to god it has gotten tedious as hell getting through shows lately.

Sharknado is just one in a long line of crappy shark themed horror movies that Syfy churns out like clockwork.
The inheritor of Plan 9's throne is The Ghastly Love of Johnny X:

Watched it and it was terrible, people jumping on the bad movie bandwagon declaring this the best worst movie ever. This is nowhere near as good as Mega Python vs Gatoroid or Mega Piranha, if it hasn't got Tiffany or Debbie Gibson in then it's not worth watching

Nay nay nay... Howard's would be "cocknado", he'd fight it by bending over.

You would have to watch student films or some other amateur work to find something as bad as 'Plan 9'. It's beyond a bad script, it's pacing and production so awful that it makes your skin crawl.

Accordiong to Gary the reason they are making Sharknado 2 is because "Howard talked about it for two days".

What happened to the other 19,200,000 of Howard's fans/SXM subscribers that apparently didn't tune in?

I, for one, caught Sharknado on the first run.

It was laugh out loud funny for how terrible it was! CGI looked like it was done on a $25 budget. It was the modern day equivalent if the flying pie tins in Planet 9.

It's still here, in the form of Rifftrax. They're probably writing their "Sharknado" riffs as I type this. They pretty much riff every major movie, not just the "bad" ones; that's how they make their money. You buy the mp3s from them and synch them up to the DVD.

Cinematic Titanic, featuring the original stars of MST3k (Joel, Dr Forrester and TV's Frank, and the original Tom Servo) were great, and were in the spirit of the show, sticking to truly bad, cheesy, low-budget movies. They also sold full dvd's. Unfortunately they folded last year. Hope they can come back.
