Anyone know how the company is doing financially? In the age of Internet streaming media (Spotify, etc.), I can't imagine a subscription based radio service doing very well. I also get about two emails a day from SIRIUS offering a subscription at a discounted price.

I wonder how many subscribers they really have.

seems like they are doing fine. i would guess they at least have a good three or four years left in them. people like the simplicity of just turning on your car and having sirius come on. once wireless carplay and android auto start showing up that will likely be their downfall and only the truckers will stick with it.

...the only reason sirius is still around is new car sales coming with a subscription. nobody "loves" paying for radio.

That's exactly what my dad is doing. He bought a new car and listens to Sirius, but he's not going to pay for it when the subscription expires.

Based on return on investment, SIRI is best performing stock in my portfolio. Bought at around 1.00 when Stern first went here and now it's around 4.00

Probably time to take some off of the table as their business model doesn't seem well positioned to survive dramatic technology changes.

The question will be if car companies stop including the hardware in their cars. I think between the OEM equipment sales and trial memberships bought by car companies for new cars, that is a huge share of their revenues. When car companies start including true WIFI in their entertainment systems and the costs for data goes down, many car companies will drop Sirius all together.

This. I also think SiriusXM has a better chance at survival as long as cellular data plans are expensive and very limited.

I hope it survives for a long time after Howard. I don't want him to have the satisfaction of saying Sirius went belly up after he quit.

After this report - the chances of them giving Stern anothe r5 years is even higher. They've got some cash to spend.
