I would Google this and just read opinions from people, but that'd be no fun. Some of you that aren't idiots might offer some insight. My best friend I've known since grade school has been working as a camp nurse at a Salvation Army summer camp for kid for the past couple of years. This dude has been a militant atheist his entire life. All of he sudden he's started talking about joining or getting involved in their programs more and more. He showed me this video the other night about "Fear of God" and the shit just screamed cult to me. It was about how you MUST fear God to be loved by him. It had all this imagery of a woman drowning in a room. I was kind of scared. I can't even find the video now, so it might be some shit you only get when you've been indoctrinated enough. I'm a tolerant guy to religion, and will pretty much accept anyone with any religion who is a decent person, but this shit seems weird to me. Here's something he told me: "The Salvation Army requires that officers in the Salvation Army only marry other officers, and throws people out for breaking this rule." He told me to become an "officer" people have to sell most of their possessions and you're basically sent around on missions to work for them. I asked him if you could leave at any time, and he said yeah. That shit smells like cult. What do you all think? Too much for you to read? Go to @skp2978 's latest "If you were an ice cream flavor, which one would you be?" thread. This is serious.
