then they tried to redeem themselves with death magnetic. sorta worked, but not quite.
At least The Wig doesnt put his name all over merchandise. He only gets his marbles from bogus iron clad contracts with near bankrupt sattelite radio companies.
He doesn't put his name on merchandise because that would limit himself. ie if he had his name on Coke than he couldn't switch to Pepsi in 2 years. What he does now is product placement. It is like watching that movie where Jim Carrey is the only real person in that bubble.

Gene has always been about the $$$. He never had to sell out.
Not a big fan of Craig Gast(sp?) but the gene Simmons bits were awesome.
Not putting out tons and tons of merchandise was a calculated move by. Howard. First, he was afraid of the stuff not selling and exposing he size of his audience. And second, Howard knew that by limiting thugs like DVDs/CDs, etc, people could only find him on the radio then. Ratings would be higher because the radio program felt special. And when he made a rare public appearance on a tv show, more of his fans would tune in.
The first couple of times.
It's possible that the guy we loved was selling out , and this guy now is the real guy doing and saying what he likes.
these guys might be close.....I remember their first couple albums without the meth-head girl were that "conscious" "intelligent" hip-hop stuff that was the complete antithesis to what they became. back then they talked a lot about integrity and hip-hop/music not being a commodity. I think they might rival Howard in hypocrisy.
you mean besides Adam Silver of the NBA?
Those guys from Duck Dynasty will put their names on just about anything. Take a look around next time you're in a department store.
Hunting gear, flashlights, thermoses (?), t-shirts etc.
But did Gene sell out to this.....
Andre was a sellout ?
I can't imagine any one else that did a complete 180 and turned into everything he ridiculed for years. Others may have sold out for commercial success. I'm not even sure Howard counts as a sellout, aside from AGT. But becoming a different person on his radio show is way worse than that.
gene is the fckig man
Sammy a huge sellout Fagott\
I saw them back in 1998 or 1999. Their only popular song was "joints and jams" and they basically a combination of Jurassic 5/ Digital Planets/ and Tribe Called Quest.
Howard's a bigger sellout though.
