Ok I got the call saying mom's going in for the colonoscopy soon. No idea how long the procedure will be so I turned around and came back home. It's better I go in the evening anyway when the docs are making rounds.

Her pain is returning but they can't figure out why. Everything I look up pertaining to her symptoms (intense pain on right side underneath rib cage, trapped gas) points to gallbladder removal but they checked that out and although she has a stone there's no blockage. It may have to be removed down the road but that's been ruled out as the cause of her pain. I don't trust her attending because that's his specialty and I think he's looking for a payday.

She's been in that shithole for 6 days now without solid food. I'm worried at this point she may agree to anything just to get out of there.

    Any suggestions?

I'm going to run a few errands and clear my head but any advice would be appreciated. TIA.

I hate to say this Snappy I have a suspicion. If I'm right then Colonoscopy will actually make her feel somewhere between worse and miserably painful within 24 hours after they finish.

The doctors will not be able to figure it and she will be stuck there while they poke, prod her and rack up huge bills

Since I have so little info on your mom's situation it would be helpful to know the following:

    1. What is her diet like? The more details, including specific foods, the better.
    2. Have they taken a stool sample and analyzed it? (I'd bet no)
    3. Did her blood work show any abnormalities?
    4. Does she have acid reflux/GERD?
    5. How long has all of things been going on ?

They suspected acid reflux and put some meds in her IV and that helped a little but they didn't do it consistently. :dontknow:

    Negative on the stool sample.

This happened to her a couple of years ago but the pain wasn't as intense and it went away after a few days.

She's already on a strict diabetic diet and she eats like a bird. Rail thin...she looks nothing at all like me. :jj:

I love how they rush to do sedated invasive procedures without checking as many external things as possible.

Any chance to get them to do a stool test prior to colonoscopy or are they going right in?

Yeah it's probably already started but it's ok. That was the one test she did want done. Part of her colon was removed years ago and she was worried that could be part of the problem. The bastards wanted to send her to another hospital as an outpatient procedure after she's already been laying there all week. This hospital is screwed up.

Sorry to hear it is such a nightmare

Post how she is doing over the next day or so after she gets done w/ the colonoscopy

BTW, I'm curious since she's diabetic how are they getting her nutrients without glucose and eating?

Hopefully not but as many times as these people screwed up it wouldn't surprise me. Apparently they only act right when I'm around. If they don't release her by tonight/tomorrow I'm just going to have to camp out there.

Was thinking that's a possibility as well but her pain is high up by the rib cage. :dontknow:

Hopefully the colonoscopy will either rule that out or they can treat it.

Hey Snap , I've had that pain under my right rib cage that progressively got worse over the past year. I went to the E.R. thinking it was a heart attack back in mid January , Anyway they put me through all of the tests , Blood test , Scope through both ends , HIDA gallbladder scan , More blood tests, CT scan from my chin to my pelvis , And the only thing they found was that i had Acid Reflux/Gerd so i take Nexium.

I had the same deal , I quit eating things except for baked chicken and cut down on the fatty foods , I lost about 30 lbs and i still have the pain but it's not as bad now if i stay away from the fatty foods. I still think it's a gallbladder issue but the Docs have ruled that out :dontknow:

Keep us posted if you can , It'll be interesting to see what they find out.
