It was one of the most popular baby names for boys several years ago. Now, it’s practically extinct.

The name Gary is becoming incredibly rare, according to data from OurBabyNamer.com. There were only 442 babies given the name in 2013, compared to more than 38,000 in 1952.

The name has been decreasing in popularity for decades. It is currently at its lowest point of popularity since 1928.

The last time a girl was named Gary was in 1997, according to the website. The name ranks No. 578 in U.S. popularity.

You can see why. I mean, Adolf probably lost a lot of popularity too.

Who would want to name a person after that apefaced 'what do you do for a living' brother-of-AIDS BabaBooey?

My kids adopted a chimp for me through the WWF for my birthday and we got a stuffed monkey along with the certificate. His name, of course, is Gary. Every time my wife and I hear the kids fighting over the monkey with screams of 'I WANT GARY' we lose our minds laughing.

I worked for a company who's President was named Gary. He was the biggest dick I've ever met.

To me Gary = dick head.

Gary, like Barry, is always diminutive. There is no adult form of the name. Jimmy can always be James, Jack can always be John; Stevie = Stephen, and Larry is Lawrence, but Gary is always Gary - and sounds like a child's name.

One of my good friends since childhood is named Gary, he hates his name very much, I never understood; a name is a name, unless your called Apple, Coco, Moxie Crimefighter, etc, then fuck your parents.
