These same people like Stamos go on Fallon, Kimmel and the other late night entries. Once in a while a story will show up on the Internet about what was said on the interview. Now every guest who goes on Stern gets written up on Yahoo, The Daily Mail, ET and OK magazine website. Whatever the guest says is some earth shattering secret. In reality the gossip tabloids around the world have probably reported on the rumors months or even a year before what the guest tells Stern. The difference is nobody wants to give them publicity. They are competitors. I will only tell Howard my deep, dark secrets. It's such a load of crap. Aside from the occasional A-Lister who comes on the show the guests want and need the publicity. Even if it's bad it gets their name out again. For Stamos maybe it gets him a part on a new sitcom. Howard's audience is way too small for all these newspapers and website to care about what some washed up guest has to say. A lot of the people Stern has on are one foot away from the Hollywood Show for celebrities to sign autographs.

They send these stories to them. My guess is being that this is the last contract (the 12 year content deal assures this is true) Sirius more than buchwald is pushing these stories... they're trying to make Howard THE celebrity interview destination.

It really is pretty brilliant. It's a win for everyone.
Howard stays relevant by seeming to be some master interviewer.
SIRIUS wins because it gets their name out there with exclusive content.
And the singer/actor/whatever seems edgy and interesting because they "revealed" something scandalous!

Seems like money well spent, getting these stories printed

I'm not listening. You can't avoid the stories that are plastered on Yahoo and numerous websites in addition to USA Today, New York Daily News and Post.

Maybe because there are more things to quote from a 1 hour Stern interview than a 5 minute segment on most late night shows. It's not rocket science.

Buchwald & Asses earning their payday by spreading that thin layer of margarine over the remaining media products that will still discuss Old Man Stern.

Let's face it: The bitching of this board aside, Howard has zero cache at his age. SIRIUS got him money; but Americans Lack Talent did little to leap him to executive producer land (which I think was his goal: a new Bob Hope or Dick Cavett). Instead, he is the media equivalent of a Sear's catalog model. He gets paid, nicely; but no-one outside of his little world cares.
