This morning, I was listening to the show from April 2005 when Sal wanted to spend the night at Howard's and watch Survivor in the same bed together.

I heard tell once of a man in Arkansas who had a fixation on the concept of gravity. He was familiar with the story of the apple falling on Newton's head and was also keenly aware that it was a fabrication used to bolster the idea of the man's legend. So, he went back to community college and graduated. He spoke with his father afterwards who encouraged him to continue. He was 43 at this point so a late in life academic career seemed both daunting and a little frivolous. He enrolled in a 4 your institution anyway. He continued on to recieve his master and his doctorate in physics. The interesting aspect of this story is not that he went back to school or his fascination with gravity...it was how he paid for it. Card counting is a technique that has been associated with the criminal element for a long time. The man didn't see it that way and, instead, saw it as a challenge. The analytical brain works faster in some than others and as it turned out, the man was a prodigy. Traveling through Arkansas, Kentucky, and Georgia while playing in closed door tournaments allowed him to fund his college career. That was until he was caught during his final play. He had 2 fingers severed as punishment and as he watched them tumble to the floor all he could think about was the motivation behind all of this. Gravity. He still lives to thus very day. A little colder and a little harder....but his passion still burns. Was it all worth it? Maybe...but the fields he tends don't have the dusty, heavy mathematical saturated atmosphere he strive for. The fields didn't drive him to the point of losing his fingers...and a part of his soul. Gravity will have to wait. It'll be the last thing that he feels as he drops to the ground the day he dies and it's good enough for him.

    Oh. Howard sucks dick.
