Larry Hagman found fame and fortune playing one of TV's most iconic villains, J.R. Ewing on "Dallas," but his daughter alleges he had a lot in common with the rogue he played. Kristina Hagman wrote, "The Eternal Party," where she details life with the legendary actor. Hagman first hit was "I Dream Of Jeannie" in 1965. When that show came to an end, it was tough on the family. "We would have to rent our house out and go camping around America to live for free."

I hear that theme song and I'm whisked back to my grandparents living room watching friday night television, with the one-button Zenith remote control.

Larry was a serious drinker, so I suppose he chased every dragon.

Same here. It was Dukes of Hazzard and then I had to be quiet at 9 o clock to see what Bobby and JR were up to. :nojj:

I've seen every episode and every episode of the later series.

Of course its state law in Texas to watch Dallas.

yep, then Falcon Crest after Dallas.

He was great in Nixon, they might as well have just called his character J.R.

Same memory! The folks would drop us off at the grandparents and go dancing, the order of the evening was the Dukes of Hazzard and Dallas with the volume set at a thunderous level. Good times.

Our volume was thunderous because my grandma was basically deaf....but she heard enough to yell at JR like he was in the room. :jj:
I also heard her say "That damn drunk, Sue Ellen!" a lot.

My grandmother was totally like that! And we also had to STFU whenever Dynasty was on as well.

Ha! Everyone hated Sue Ellen. I remember my grandma crying when it came across the news that Jock Ewing died in real life. Damn I miss the early 80's.
