This episode of Premier Guitar Features Brendan and Jake from Umphreys McGee. They do a rundown of their rigs. Its pretty cool, for those who would be interested.

I had to laugh when Bayliss admits that he uses a Tremonte (lead singer for Creed) PRS, but had it made without the name, since he hates Scott Stapp.

Nice. I love rig rundowns even if I'm not into the band. As long as I respect their talent I love it.

Give Umphreys a listen, they are not like Phish or Dead, they are much proggier. As opposed finding a groove and exploring it, they improv really quickly by using hand signals on stage (a la Frank Zappa).

Fun Fact: They are the only band besides Phish who Ive seen over 100 times.

How much of it did you listen to? I posted a handful of lengthy songs six minutes ago, doesn't seem like thats enough time to form an opinion

About a minute & a half ... I may feel definitely if I had just smoked a few bowls of Purple-Haired Cess ...But, sober, it just sounds like background music to a 1970's movie of the week :dontknow:

I love Rig Rundowns. I'm a big pedal whore, so I always like watching those.

Jake is one of the best guitarists I've ever seen live. I saw Umphreys in a really small club about 10-12 years ago at MSU. They were awesome. Seen them a handful of times since.

Your name isn't a nod to Umphreys, is it?

Wait, this retard had a signature model guitar customized without the signature model identifying marks? Instead of just getting a custom model made with his own exact specifications?

He wanted the exact one that he's been playing for the last twenty years. He has a custom Becker as well, that he never uses. I dont know if Ive ever seem him touch it in the 100+ shows Ive seem them.

Temple Club. An old church they turned into a venue.

Screen name is actually a nod to The Black Crowes.

I also saw them play, of all places, the MSU student international center, which was essentially a student Union with a food court. They were making funny jokes about playing in front of a Wendy's.
You from Michigan, MSU or did you follow them?

Haha. They played our cafeteria as well(University of Dayton). Its so weird to think that I used to email the keyboardist asking how to get into shows when I was too young, and now they sell out Red Rocks.

Im not from MI. Im from Chicago area, but now live in Denver. I followed them a lot. Started seeing them regularly in 2000, but my peak years were 2004-2008, when Phish was out of the picture.

Kinda cool. Richard Christy played with Umphreys McGee at their show at The Beacon. He guested on a Metallica cover, ...And Justice For All.
Here is a video from the soundcheck
