For anyone who was a fan of The Sopranos, his body of work, or his dedication to wounded warriors, just wanted to mention that HBO just put up a 34 min. Special called "James Gandofini: Tribute to a Friend".

It's only available until the 31st, and I would have been disppointed had I not stumbled on it by accident.

That's very nice of HBO to do that. I loved The Sopranos. It was HBO's first huge hit. From all accounts, JG was a super nice guy.

Speaking of huge hits, whatever happened to Curb Your Enthusiasm? I don't think it's coming back.

The greatest show of all time. It is now part of our culture. I watch the box set all the time. College is the best episode and the pine barrens.

It's a fucking travesty that only the first season has been released on blu ray.

HBO needs to go back and add whatever deleted scenes/special features they've got lying around and release the entire series on blu ray.

TAKE MY CASH, YOU FUCKS.

Still my favorite series of all time, greater than BB, IMO.

I just watched 'Not Fade Away' last night on Netflix. I had never heard of it but it starred Gandofini and was David Chase's feature film directorial debut. Little Steven was a musical consultant so it had the Sopranos stamp with a nice Underground Garage vibe. Pretty decent flick that was like a grittier version of The Wunders. JG was excellent as per usual.

one of the first quality shows that didn't insult us with a bunch of good looking vapid movie stars...real looking people, gritty real life stories.

I just finished the entire series last week....had watched over a couple of months...loved it all over again. I was surprised that it was more violent then I realized the first time... it was a testament to Gandofini's acting that we all were still rooting for Tony Soprano no matter what evil deed he had done....

...and Dirty South, I SO agree with you....I would most definitely pay for the blu ray discs with outtakes and special features. Perhaps they are trying to be respectful and not immediately cash in on his death....but I'm hoping that something like that is offered in the future.

Sorry, but it really cannot compare the "awesome" tribute show that they did for him on Howard 101. Even though virtually everyone on the Howard 101 tribute never met, interviewed, or worked with Gandofini, I can't think of anyone who knew him better since they all watched every episode of the Sopranos at least 10 times. Plus they had Steve Gorrillo on who actually was on the show for literally two minutes and had tons (I think three) of Gandofini behind the scenes stories.

I re-watched the series over the summer and I was just blown away by how amazing this show was.
The only 'weak-link' was the kid who played Gandolfini's kid...Michael Imperili or some shit. That kids expression never changed.

Michael Imperioli played his "nephew", Christopher.

Robert Iler played his son, AJ.

I had a personal connection to him so I was surprised what big news his death became.

Hbo picked up up the tab for most of the funeral expenses- including flying everyone from LA

The kid had an excuse. he was young and inexperienced. But Christopher was the weakest part of the show. I remember everyone involved always claiming that Imperioli was such a great actor and he had his own little troupe of actors that financed their own plays in NYC. IMO he sucked the life out of every scene he was involved in and anytime they were concentrating the story on him the show came to a grinding halt. My dream episode was that he shot and killed Artie Bucco and was sent to prison offscreen for life removing them both from the series.

Same here. Listening to an interview with David Chase (I think), he mentioned that Livia's character was influenced by the mother of a Philly mob boss.
