Happens every year. People with no clue show up because of their New Year's Resolutions. Many just sit on the equipment with their smart phones.:haha:

You don't need a gym. Just a big rubber band, two gallons of milk...

Around here the gyms also offer personal training (costs extra). I see a lot of people getting that too.
    Very busy still.

paying to walk. That cracks me up. They all probably pay someone to clean the driveway off so they can get the car out to the gym.

Not to mention doing cardio outdoors is one of the most peaceful and enjoyable exercises you can possibly do. If its not a natural disaster outside, there is no reason for a treadmill.

I have a home gym. Back when I worked out a lot, like 12-15 years ago, I had a gym membership, while waiting for a treadmill I used to think "Just wait till I get my own home, I'm going to put in my own gym, screw this waiting crap!"

At that time I worked out 4 days a week. FFWD to now, I have a big house with a gym in my basement, treadmill, exercise bike, weight bench with full set of cast-iron weights, the whole deal..MAYBE go down there once every few weeks. I realized that paying $30 a month to the gym made me HAVE to go, if I didn't I felt like I was wasting that money. Having it conveniently in my basement I don't have any urge to go use it..:duhme:

True story. I go to a bare bones gym: small and simple. Pay $11 a month. I love it and totally agree. If I had it at home, I wouldn't use it.

Great post and totally with you. We have an extensive home gym and hit it 5-6 days a week and have for years, but we recently joined our local gym (haven't been part of a gym for 7 years since our home gym was built) because I simply wanted more equipment and honestly had no space left plus like playing pickup basketball games. Anyway, it costs $19 a month, so that's damn worth it for a member like me where I'm what they don't want: I actually show up all week and use the equipment. :)

....BUT the gym is crazy busy now with some people that look like they scooter around Walmart. I've been there before and know that they'll soon disappear from the gym and the gym will continue to collect their membership fees while all the equipment clears out for us who actually work out. :)

I've been going to PF on a regular basis for 4 years. The last two years, I only go 1 or 2 days a week in January because of the crowds. Back to normal by the end of March-beginning of April. Canceled my membership-Jan 16th. On vacation this week and will use a one week trial membership at LA Fitness. Thinking about joining for a couple of months to use the sauna.

In all fairness, I fell HARD on the ice on my driveway last January. My ankle is still kinda messed up.

Walking indoors during bad weather is a good idea.

As for walking in April and May? Outside, baby, outside.

The only thing my garage doesn't have that LA Fitness does is 20 year old college girls to flirt with between sets.

Now if I can only fill my garage with those ! :c
