Jay Leno may soon have his own CNBC show? By: Ann Oldenburg October 8, 2014 2:51 pm Tom O’Neal, AP/Rolex Ever since Jay Leno handed over the reins of his Tonight Show gig to Jimmy Fallon in February, he has apparently been looking for a way to return to the air on a regular basis. The former late night show host has been “courted” by several outlets, says The Hollywood Reporter, but he wants to stay in the NBC family. His car-themed web series, Jay’s Garage, is on NBC.com. And now THR says Leno is “close to a deal” to host a new primetime CNBC show that will focus on the comic’s longtime love of cars. CNBC aired a special called Jay’s Garage: The Ultimate Car Week over the Labor Day weekend. The show would be an offshoot of that. CNBC Senior VP Brian Steel tells USA TODAY: “We ran a show a month ago; we obviously love Jay, but we’re not commenting.” Leno’s camp has not commented either.
