A better quote would be that people just need to work. Period!

Europeans get two months vacation a year! He also loves immigration, which only lowers wages for working people and further balkanizes the country. In addition he said that illegals invading America was an "act of love". That they love America so much they just have to come here. My God, this could be our next President. Is he deliberately sabotaging his own campaign? Who is the adviser approving these idiotic statements. Wow! Hillary must have moles in his campaign and/or he must be brain dead.

How many reports have come out that America works harder than all other industrialized nations, and this is just a (40) hour week, which too many of us laugh at. We also have the most stress related diseases and illnesses related to this work ethic. How about creating jobs and putting people to work who are looking for jobs, gave up looking for jobs and are proud Americans who want desperately to work?

Except that's not what he wants: most people work 47 hours on average; the std work week is 40 hours. Most already work six days of hours per week, and many work 60 hours per week.Jeb wants the same people to work even more. This is asking people to work slavery hours, for less income since it would result for many in moving to a higher tax bracket.

All this would really achieve would be turning working people into slaves and to increase income taxes.

I would prefer Hillary to this coward.

Look at everyone getting all pissy at the idea of having to do some work!

You want your leaders to tell you to work less and get high.

Here is exactly what he said:

“My aspiration for the country and I believe we can achieve it, is 4 percent growth as far as the eye can see. Which means we have to be a lot more productive, workforce participation has to rise from its all-time modern lows. It means that people need to work longer hours” and, through their productivity, gain more income for their families. That's the only way we're going to get out of this rut that we're in.”

He was talking about the fact that the current economy has a lot of part-time workers, and a lot of people working fewer than a full week. We have historically low participation in the economy.

I'm no Jeb Bush fan, but working more hours means more money and a healthier economy. Ask the Germans.

    Yeah right, my fucking leaders:

"The House is scheduled to be in session in Washington a total of 133 days this year. The Senate will be in session about the same amount or a few days more.

But if you’re an ordinary American worker with two weeks of vacation and federal holidays off, you’re likely clocking in around 240 days a year at the office.

Of course, when lawmakers are on recess, it’s often considered a “work week” in their districts –- but they’re not getting much legislating done away from the nation’s capital. And though lawmakers often participate in constituent meetings and fundraisers, they’re not actually required to work at all. In fact, the summer break is mandated by law, though members could postpone or abridge it if they really wanted to.

But they’re still paid for the days they’re in recess –- and with a taxpayer-funded base salary of $174,000 a year, that amounts to about $16,000 for the summer break alone. And party leaders make even more."

What's wrong with people who work easily replaceable jobs working more hours? You didn't learn a real skill in life, but if you are looking to make extra cash and the boss is willing to pay ot, what's the issue?

People do want to work more hours, unfortunately, once Obamacare was initiated companies cut part time workers down to around 28 hours a week. If their PT workers went over 30 hours the business' got penalized for it. I know many people personally who are suffering finically because of this.

Last year I supervised roughly 60 hourly workers. Most of them loved overtime.

During our busy times they'd work 80-90 hours per week, but eventually that is too much work for anyone.

When we had prevailing wage jobs, they'd be paid $40+ per hour plus $60+ per hour overtime. It was common for a regular schlub to pull in $3,000 per week for a month or two per year.

The poor people who are stuck working 30 hours due to Obamacare are the people that Bush is talking about. There are many, many people stuck in that rut.

The guy sits on boards with cronies from his dad and granddad, earns millions for hanging out (what work has he produced in 15 years?) - the fool probably thinks it's that easy for everyone.

I think the headline was taken out of context. His message was that people's income needs to rise for them to be successful. He even stated that someone working two jobs should absolutely not have to work more hours. The message was that their income needs to rise either by getting paid more or by working more hours to improve their overall quality of life. The standard 40 hour week is not that difficult. I have worked 50+ hrs per week my whole career and still enjoy plenty of leisure time.
