    The Rise of Jersey Mike's
1956 Mike’s Subs opens in Point Pleasant, N.J.

1971 Peter Cancro, 14, gets a job at the shop.

1975 Cancro buys Mike’s Subs for $125,000, helped by an investment from his high school football coach.

1978 The restaurant adds its first hot sub, cheesesteaks, to the menu.

1987 Cancro changes the name to Jersey Mike’s and begins franchising.

2007 The company hires as president Hoyt Jones, who’d spent more than 20 years at Domino’s Pizza.

2011 Jersey Mike’s receives federal trademark protection for “Mike’s Way,” proprietary terminology for one of its most popular topping combinations: sliced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, red wine vinegar, olive oil, and Italian spices.

The company begins its annual Month of Giving, raising $600,000 for 66 local and national charities.

2014 The company begins an ad campaign in 35  local cable-TV markets (tag line: “A Sub Above”).

Cancro buys a Manhattan condo for $15.7 million.

2015 Jersey Mike’s opens 197 restaurants, passing the 1,000 mark.

2016 The company will become an official sponsor of University of Notre Dame home football games on NBC.

There's a Mikes subs in Belmar Nj. Not the same as Jersey Mikes, has been there since at least the 80's. As in all chains, along with the economy they have dropped in quality. Back then the main ingredient was meat. Use to be a go to place at the shore house. 30 years later, prfft, I didn't ask for a loaf of bread with a Slifer of meat.

People in NJ know better than to eat this shit. They are not that popular in NJ since there are so many better places to eat in NJ But if you live in Bumfuck Iowa and didnt know better, Jersey Mike's just might appeal to you. Who the fuck eats a fast food sub sandwich for crissake?

You obviously know Jack Shit about NJ. And you probably couldn't afford to live there anyway if u have to go to a Jersey Mike's to eat. I have traveled a lot and there aren't too many other places in the US I would consider living all things considered.

Yeah Jersey's a real nice place, I spent years in Newark, Elizabeth, Jersey City, Trenton.

If you think that is nice, you are not right in the head. I wouldn't live there, it's a fucking shithole
