...probably the most dangerous show in Stern history:

...notice that Ronnie was nowhere to be seen. It clearly was a dangerous situation so KC had to take care of it.
He was eying his every move inside the studio:

No those guys were the biggest pussies ever. Even years later when one of them snapped after being a showbiz failure for several years. I agree Ronnie couldnt guard a warm cup of urine.

Poor Melrose in that last gif :tears:

I was never sure if that solo appearance was a bit or if that's when he really started to go off the rails.

Is that the brother that got killed by the police?

This is why I agree with the OP. Those guys weren't fucking around, it wasn't just performance art. They were seriously fucked in the head.

I can't find the clip, but wasn't there a clip from an awards ceremony where a guy tried to get to Howard and Gary took a punch from the guy? It was the husband of someone Howard used to goof on if I remember correctly.

    That was quite the tenses.

    "February 24, 1989

A lot of people have wanted to punch Howard Stern in the mouth and now someone has. The irritating deejay, who once heated up the Washington airwaves over DC-101 with his wild antics and now broadcasts from New York, was at the Grammys in Los Angeles, broadcasting from the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Being his normal obnoxious self, Stern, sitting in a nearby booth, began shouting at comedian Elayne Boosler with a bullhorn because she has consistently refused to appear on his show. Stern has been parodying her "don't let them see you sweat" deodorant commercials, so she hasn't felt warm about the radio mud wrestler. Having had it with the bullhorn, Boosler's manager and boyfriend Steve Gerbson walked over to Stern and asked him to stop. Words were exchanged and Gerbson pushed the bullhorn in Stern's face and punched him in the mouth. Stern is threatening to sue and you can bet his radio audience will hear about this ad nauseam."

"To prove I'm such a dangerous tough guy, I'm going to shove Melrose Larry Green"

    Notice he didn't shove KC.
