Foreign Box Office: ‘Jurassic World’ Roars to $82.5 Million, ‘Minions’ Racks Up $36 Million

Universal’s “Jurassic World” thundered to the top of the global box office this weekend, hauling in a mighty $82.5 million across 66 territories.

The blockbuster has earned more than $1.2 billion since opening three weeks ago, putting it right behind “Furious 7’s” $1.5 billion bounty and “Avengers: Age of Ultron’s” nearly $1.4 billion haul on the year’s highest-grossing global releases. The dinosaur thriller ranks eighth on the list of the best performing worldwide releases, behind “Frozen.”

Overseas audiences got a jump on domestic crowds, pushing “Minions” to $36 million at the foreign box office. The “Despicable Me” spinoff doesn’t hit U.S. theaters until July 12, but Universal, the studio behind the animated adventure, is rolling out the film in 10 territories in order to capitalize on school holidays. These markets include the United Kingdom, Brazil, Poland and Australia. The film has brought in $51.7 million since it began debuting overseas ten days ago.

I just saw Mad Max this weekend and can't believe how it didn't catch on more. I am not even really an action fan and I thought it was fantastic start to finish.

The Chris Pratt thing continues to elude me.

I knew the name from somewhere, but could not place it. At first I thought it was the new Capt. Kirk, but then realized he is Anna Farris' husband.

I saw the dino movie in 3D yesterday. The 2D showing was sold out!

It was OK, but incredibly predictable.

The Raptor story line made literally no sense at all.

I was excited to see Mad Max. Heard it was like a two-hour car chase. It has such a high score on RT also. It was a great movie, but I guess I"m more of a sucker for the Jurassic Park movies. Although the 3d in Jurassic World was complete shit.

He is the next Indiana Jones? He'd better lose some weight. He's a fat guy pretending to be a movie star.

When they panned onto the park with the music playing I felt a buzz like I was on drugs. One of the greatest movie scenes ever IMO

    Let me guess.

    Man gets arrogant

Dinosaurs get out and run amok

    People get killed

Main star lives after long drawn out chase scenes.

    Setting up another sequel.

I'll catch it in a year on Amazon.
