The whole story of that issue would probably be pretty interesting. The SEC must have had some smoking gun to base the investigation on.

What if the Sirius stock went up to 15-20 dollars a share?
Stern would have been pissed that he dumped most of his stock at $6(?) a share.
Howard is an honest man a wall street wiz.
His gut told him to SELL ASAP!

I don't know about jail, but someone got busted for insider trading and they investigated Howard to see if he was a part of it.

It would be interesting to know how much any one person konws of his total assets, there had to be an accounting at his divorce and something close to a full accounting for his pre-nup but I'd guess he has some offshore assets and emergency money squirreled away that no one is aware of.

WASHINGTON - The Securities and Exchange Commission said today that it had settled insider-trading charges against an accountant and a former executive of Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. of New York, who the SEC said illegally profited from advance knowledge that radio "shock jock" personality Howard Stern was negotiating a $500 million contract in 2004 to move to Sirius.

Gary Herwitz, a certified public accountant and former president of the New York accounting firm Mahoney Cohen & Co. agreed to pay $52,000 in fines and stock profit disgorgement, and former Sirius executive vice president Tracey Stanyer agreed to pay $35,000 in fines and disgorgement to settle the charges. Neither of them admitted or denied the charges. Mahoney Cohen is Mr. Stern's longtime accountant.

...chaunce was brought in for questioning as were other stern people like ronnie and bababooey. stern told chauncy on the air that it was basically chaunys big mouth that got the sec investigating him. after the sec thing chauncy was never mentioned again, he was banned, blackballed, 86'd from the stern scene.

...to which Chaunce responded by filming an unauthorized porno in Howard's studio and (I believe) his precious chair was used as a focal point for said nastiness. :jj:

...and Howard punished Chaunce by spreading the vicious "faggot, you're a faggot, you had gay sex or a reacharound with a dude" clandestine retaliation, no?

NEW YORK — A regular guest on Howard Stern's syndicated radio show said he would testify Wednesday in a probe of trading of Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. shares, which surged last fall when Stern announced he was moving his program to the company.
Chaunce Hayden, who writes gossip and other celebrity news for Steppin' Out magazine, said he received a subpoena Thursday ordering him to appear before Securities and Exchange Commission investigators in New York to discuss "trading in securities of Sirius Satellite Radio."
