    Wow,

This really brought back memories of the Golden Age of the show.

In retrospect it was the first major event since the loss of Jackie and marked the beginning of the end.
A week later we got the classic 9/11 show.

When you listen to this, the difference in the show between then and now is pronounced and sad.

    RIP Hank, We miss you.
You left us too soon and took the show funny with you.

The other day, they replayed Doud talking about being Hank's manager and how he tried to keep him sober until he had a gig or was gonna be on the show. I wonder if anyone feels guilty there? I also wonder if they paid for his vodka?

Hank....the greatest wackpacker of all time

Always willing to make an ass of himself and volunteer for any bit imaginable for our entertainment
Always in a fun mood when in studio and always on top of his game
Always living up to his name by showing up drunk as advertised

and most important, underappreciated, and the one thing that differentiates himself from all other wackpackers was the fact that he was a legitimately hilarious guy whom we could laugh with. Yes Bigfoot and Beetlejuice are awesome and have said many things that had me doubled over in laughter, but it was basically all unintentional. Hank on the other hand would come in with some legitimately great one liners that would have been just as funny coming out of the mouth of someone dead sober. Hank also seemed to be pretty intelligent and had the self awareness that the other wackpackers lack. One could envision a Hank of normal height leading a perfactly normal life as a very funny individual.

I'll always remember the St Patricks Day episode featuring Hank and Beetljiuce dressed for the occasion and arguing back and forth, maybe my favorite moment in Stern show history

Howard: Hank, will you be marching in the St. Patrick's Day Parade?
    Hank: I don't know.

    I always loved that exchange.

Basically, a 10 year old drinking vodka for years. Not good.
