It was nice. Not all-time James Bond best but toward the top.

It's getting mixed reviews. Old school fans like the action, Daniel Craig finally bedding some chicks.

And, the people who came over when they started copying Bourne Identity movies are pissed it's actually going back to Bond. :jj:

I liked it - saw it in IMAX. Light on plot, heavy on action. At least 2 villain characters will be back in the next movie.

I just watched "Skyfall" last night to bone up on Bond before I see Spectre, hopefully on Sunday. This was only my second time viewing the film since the theater in 2012. Holy shit, what a gorgeous fucking movie. Eye candy galore! The film's DP, the legendary Roger Deakins is working on another level, absolutely spectacular. The film, on the other hand, was what it was. It was a step in the right direction after the dreadful "Quantum of Solace". It had some great scenes and set pieces but, ultimately, I never really bought Javier Bardem as being that menacing, he was more like Heath Ledger's Joker's little, gay brother. Bardem should have brought in more of his character, Anton Chigurh, in "No Country For Old Men" and less of a Oedipal closet case that Silva in "Skyfall" was. The last few scenes were worth their weight in gold, however. Ralph Fiennes as the new M (in the old office) briefing Bond still gives me goosebumps. I'm really ready for less of a "Bourne" knock-off and more of the Bond standard that has lasted over 50 years!

Was there a "Captain America 3: Civil War" trailer or teaser? I heard a rumor there would be - it's all I care about.

"Quantum..." was crappy because it was completed during the writers strike and I believe Craig had to do a considerable amount of writing--that was one of the worst Bonds I've ever seen.

I thought Casino Royale was an excellent movie. Quantum of Solace wasn't bad, but Skyfall sucked. Bond movies were always campy, so I understand purists not liking the Bourne style of the Daniel Craig movies. But the series needed to modernize.

Overall I gave the movie a B. Decent action and a good henchman. Some superfluous twists that added nothing and the mishandling of one of the major characters dragged it down a bit for me. Still worth seeing though.

It depends why you like that. Spectre - more action. Less emotional stuff. People say Skyfall is perfect hate that. "Too many action scenes."

Skyfall took years to like. Casino Royale I loved instantly but got over it. Fans of either don't necessarily like the other. Bourne light vs. Bond light.

The prequel phase was eventually going to have to end. It's the non-purists that seem to be having the biggest problem with this.

Funny thing about Casino Royale. You describe it perfectly. Loved it instantly but got over it. I thought it was great but didn't have to watch it again. That's where the campy Bond films win. You can watch those Rodger Moore movies multiple times. Same with the Connery films.

Exactly. For all the hate Moore and Brosnan get, it's the ladies man shit that made me actually like Bond and put on something more than a shirt. lol Connery was a hardass but didn't take himself so seriously.

I thought it was awesome. Lots of action, and it does have a lot of the classic Bond camp in it. It's pretty tongue in cheek with itself when it's not balls to the wall action, and Craig is still closest to the vicious psycopath of Fleming's novels. It's a fun movie, and it ties it all up nicely if this really is Craig's last movie as Bond. Plenty of stuff to move forward with for a new lead, but a nice sendoff to the current guy. I also like that they openly acknowledge that the characters aren't specific people, but codenames that are passed down to new people. Ralph Fiennes is really good in it too.
