What the Hell was that? I stayed up till almost 10 at night watching that piece of garbage...when the boy tells the alien that all they need is love and he should be more caring...I wasted another two hours of my already useless life.

And after the kid's mom dies in the factory accident, I thought that the girl's dad killed the mom...All he did was get too drunk to show up for his shift so the mom took his shift and got killed by a bumper press or something. WHO CARES.
The whole movie was way too long, and really pointless. And I still don't get why they helped this alien that killed and ate their neighbors.
I swear the only kid's name I learned in the entire movie was Martin because they were always yelling at him for being stupid, and Alice because she was the only girl.
That's your first problem there. If it's on netflix streaming and isn't a documentary or a TV show it is crap.
