    Ahh,

RIO RANCHO, N.M. —Suspects from an armed robbery are behind bars, but it's what happened after the crime that landed the victim in jail as well.

Surveillance video shows two people run down Chuckwagon Street in Rio Rancho. Just seconds later, a black car hits them, launching one into the air.

The other jumped out of the way.

Police say 18-year-old Quinn Chavez was behind the wheel. A homeowner in Rio Rancho saw the incident play out on his surveillance system.

“Oh that could have been a fatal injury, very easily,” said Rio Rancho police Capt. Paul Rogers.

Police reports show Chavez was a victim himself just minutes before.

It all started near the Western Winds Park, blocks from the accident site. Chavez pulled up with 20-year-old Christopher Gutierrez in the car.

“They weren't engaging in activity that takes place in parks,” Rogers said.

Court documents show three people approached the car with a gun and robbed Chavez. Chavez told police they all ran off on foot.

Chavez also told police he took a minute to gather himself, got into his car and started driving away from the park.

Chavez mowed over two of the robbery suspects, police said. Both people in the video were OK and had minor injuries.

Suspects were charged this week, but because of the video, Chavez is in trouble too.

“You're never excused when you're using your vehicle as a weapon,” Rogers said.

Another camera shows one of the suspects ditch something in a nearby trash can. Police recovered an airsoft gun they believe was used to commit the original robbery.

Fuck that. Once you commit a crime all bets are off. I'm so sick of this shit. You come at me with a gun I should be able to track you down 5 days later and beat your ass if I want.

Look at this quote from the news piece

Really? A guy is shooting at you with an AK while you are in your car and they only way to survive is to run him over? Really? There is never an excuse to use a car as a weapon? Really?

We had an asset protection person at work tell us we SHOULD use a vehicle as a weapon if needed.

What was he doing in the park? Why did they decide to rob him? There has to be more to the story.

Yeah, the chief really didn't think that one through all the way.

If an officer can use deadly force on a fleeing felon and that has just used deadly force against an innocent, a civilian should be able to as well. NOT GUILTY.

Well technically an officer can't use deadly force on a FLEEING felon. (And technically he hasn't been convicted at that point so he's a suspect or perp and not a felon)
