I figured I would ask you Veterans the story behind K.C. leaving the show?

I have never been 100% sure what happened that caused his departure? Was it brought up unlike the Howard TV guys & almost everyone else from the Show.

I appreciate any information.... I freaking love KC on all of the old replays and his few appearances on Sirius in the begining. The guy was a plethora of comedy and also a great producer in my opinion.

Back Story To Why I Don't Know... :
I live in the St. Louis, Mo. area and I honestly did not start listening to The Howard Stern show until like the year 2000. I think it only came (the show) to St. Louis until the late 90's? I would listen almost every morning at work and I would only listen to bits and pieces. Then around 2002 to 2005 I had a work truck that I drove to and from work and it had NO DAMN RADIO so I would only listen to my CD Walkman. I finally got a job in a lab and then I bought a Sirius Boombox and Sirius Radio in late 2005 and listened to Howard Stern almost Daily since his first show in 2006.

I always heard that but how did he end up getting "let go"? Was it announced on the show? I have always wondered the whole story?

Robin, that's between him and management. I don't get involved in the salary and affairs of the other team members.

The saddest part of that whole situation, is that picture of Howard and his fruity gloves in the youtube pictures.

They did an intervention for KC (back in the K-Rock days). Probably Chiusano insisted on it. At Sirius, Artie was allowed to nod off in the studio daily! Geez, Robin, I never knew he was on drugs!

Didn't know what meth was back then but thinking back on his story I think he might've been hooked on that. I remember him mentioning staying up for days and taking computers apart and putting them back together.

In an unrelated story before his departure I also remember him mentioning he lost something like $50k on a single bet and couldn't afford it. Anyone else remember that?

My CD walkman had an FM tuner. I had long hair in high school and "behind the neck" headphones so I'd listen to Stern during my morning classes.

Oh, and, I don't know if the "on-air" explanation included it, but when listening to the old tapes, KC's drug and mental health issues only started going off the handle after Howard insisted he become medicated after hearing a fucked-up story KC told.

KC said he didn't want to be medicated because it would fuck up his job performance.

Howard told him not to worry, his job was secure but he needed to be medicated if he wanted to keep working there.

Immediately KC's job performance started slipping, Howard made fun of him for being nuts, started belittling him on-air for fucking up his job, KC started switching meds every-other week in seach for a quick fix to the added mental issues starting meds in the first place caused.

And of course, if he was already hooked on other shit, adding perscriptions only made him more warped since you're not supposed to combine drugs.

Then he went nuts and Stern fired him after promising to stick by him through his mental issues.

tl;dr Stern's treatment of KC was wayyyyyy worse than he ever did Artie, it was just kept hush hush better.
