Anyone catch this show? I'm not a big fan but found it very interesting. They started out in Kansas in the middle of nowhere. Don Kirschner discovered them. They told a story of what a prick Steven Tyler was. They were the opening act for Aerosmith and were getting great response from the crowds. Tyler would moan and went as far as unplugging their equipment just before they'd go on stage. One nice thing about them is that during the Carry on Wayward years and after they all were so willing to give other bandmates credit, especially Kerry Livgren who blossomed as a songwriter. They seemed to not forget they were all boyhood friends who hit it big making tons of money.

I saw them in '78 with Rick Derringer. They opened with Carry On You Wayward Son and it was all downhill after that for me. Didn't enjoy it for no other reason than I just wasn't much into their music. Highly recommended watch if you can.

Steven Tyler comes off badly in everything I've ever read. I was kind of shocked to read how much a dick he was/is in Joe Perry's book "Rocks". I thought those guys were pretty tight but Joe didn't' hold back.

I saw them at a nostalgic music festival about 5 years ago. They were excellent. Sometimes I forget about these truly legendary pro bands and when I see them, it's jaw dropping. A lot of people laugh at bands from that era and minimize their influence. Too bad for them because it's a workshop on musicianship and songwriting when you see a band with their talent.

I didn't watch the Kansas doc yet but did watch the Tom Petty four hour special on t-day. They spent quite a bit of time on every album and the Traveling Wilburys.
