She was offered $18 million, same as Mariah. They then upped the offer to $20 million. More money than Marbles Stern is getting from AGT. You only do these shows if your career is on a downward trend. Katy Perry is still as big as they come. She is making way more than $20 million a year between downloads and touring. Forbes had her at $45 million already this year in May.

"American Idol" has reportedly been pushing hard to add Katy Perry to their roster of judges.
According to TMZ, the FOX reality juggernaut initially offered the pop star $18 million (the same amount reportedly paid to newly-signed judge Mariah Carey), but Katy turned it down.

"Idol" upped their offer to the "Wide Awake" singer to $20 million for a one-year contract, but she refused, the website reported.
Sources reportedly told TMZ that money isn't the issue behind Katy's decision to turn down the offers, she just doesn't feel joining the long-running show is the "right career choice for her."

No, she literally turned all that money to the dark side. Her boobs are stronger than Darth Vader.

I guess her people expect that there is a strong and long-running market for awful fad music.

AI should up the ante to $25 million. She could increase their ratings by 30%. If Howard was coming in tomorrow he would have some interesting comments on it but he is on permanent vacation. Howard thinks these people should always take the money. You never know when you become yesterday's flavor of the month. Becoming a judge on these shows always gets you more money down the road. J-Lo is earning big bucks again. Steven Tyler is cashing in.

I would love to see something like this happen on AGT. I would love to them hire some younger, more popular star for more money than howard makes. That would kill him. Then i would love for that new hire to come on the show, be introduced last, get the biggest cheers, and last but not least, be crowned "america's judge" by the people of America. All that while Howard plays second fiddle and becomes the butt of the new hires hip and witty jokes, exposing ole man stern as the senile out of touch old man he is.

In reality, most celebs have agents that are perceptive enough to understand that AGT scrapes the bottom barrel of network television entertainment.

Doesn't Howard pride himself as being the highest paid in whatever he does. I'm surprised he didn't demand he was the highest paid talent judge on TV . . .
