Were you aware? On 1 May 2013, Roache was arrested over an allegation that he raped a 15-year-old girl in 1967, which he denies. A representative of the Crown Prosecution Service in the North-West subsequently announced he was to be charged with two counts of rape. There was a preliminary hearing in a Magistrate's court on Tuesday 14 May 2013 and a Crown Court hearing took place on 10 June 2013. On 6 June 2013, Roache was additionally charged with five counts of indecent assault against girls aged between 12 and 16. The latest charges are of two indecent assaults in relation to a 14-year-old girl in 1965, one on a 16-year-old girl in 1965, one on a girl aged 13 or 14 in 1968 and one on a girl aged 11 or 12 in 1968. Roache must appear again in court on 2 September and the provisional date for the start of the trial is 13 January 2014. Roache will not be appearing in any Coronation Street episodes while police investigate the charges. An image of Ken Barlow was removed from Madame Tussauds waxwork exhibition due to unacceptable behaviour by a few visitors and fears it might be damaged. In September 2011, Le Vell was accused of a sexual offence, which he strenuously denied. In January 2012, the Crown Prosecution Service dropped the case, citing insufficient evidence. On 14 February 2013, Alison Levitt QC, principal legal adviser to the Director of Public Prosecutions, stated that she had reviewed a decision not to prosecute Le Vell following allegations made against him in 2011. She authorised Greater Manchester Police to charge Le Vell (under his legal name of Michael Turner) with 19 offences allegedly committed between 2001 and 2010, including rape of a child, indecently assaulting a child and sexual activity with a child. Although currently involved in some of the soap's main storylines, ITV announced that Le Vell would not be appearing in Coronation Street "pending the outcome of legal proceedings". Le Vell stated: "I am innocent of these charges and intend to fight them vigorously." He appeared at Manchester Magistrates' Court on 27 February but did not enter a plea. He appeared in court on 17 May, when he pleaded not guilty to all 19 charges, and the full trial is scheduled to start on 2 September 2013.
